Tonight’s Playlist – Elliott Smith

7 years ago today, we lost one of the most talented songwriters of our generation. While a new compilation is set to be released in November featuring songs from each one of his albums, it just doesn’t look too appealing to me. It skips over too many of my favorite tracks on his self-titled and his final album, From A Basement Hill. So I decided to dedicate this week’s Tonight’s Playlist to Mr. Elliott Smith and show a bunch of tracks that I think deserve recognition since it’s very easy for them to become obscured in Elliott’s large discography. Here are my favorite tracks.

1. Coast to Coast

2. New Monkey

3. Miss Misery

4. Between the Bars

5. St. Ides Heaven

6. L.A.

7. High Times

8. Coming Up Roses

9. Angeles

10. A Distorted Reality is Now a Necessity to Be Free

RIP Elliott Smith (August 6, 1969 – October 21, 2003)

His last record gets no credit- best one. Would’ve gone down in history as one of the best if he had the chance to release it/tour behind it before he died.
