Rest in Peace John, Happy Birthday Jim

Today is definitely a memorable day to say the least. For those who don’t know (and are absolute posers), 30 years ago today, that fat fuck Mark Chapman shot and killed John Lennon and further proved that the good never stick around long. While we should definitely be paying tribute to Lennon today, people have seem to have forgotten that one of rock’s greatest frontman, Jim Morrison, was born on this day 67 years ago. So today, I’m gonna honor both legends rightfully and I suggest you do the same. Whether or not you realize it, you probably owe a lot more to these two than you think cause I can guarantee at least one of the bands you listen to got where they are because of these two men. So join me as I throw on The Doors first and second albums and a few from Plastic Ono Band (fuck Yoko though) and of course, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. RIP dudes. The world was a little crazier when you guys were around, and I wish I could have seen that.

“This is the strangest life I have ever known”

– Jim Morrison

“When I was about twelve, I used to think I must be a genius, but nobody’s noticed. Either I’m a genius or I’m mad, which is it? “No,” I said, “I can’t be mad because nobody’s put me away; therefore I’m a genius.” Genius is a form of madness and we’re all that way. But I used to be coy about it, like me guitar playing. But if there’s such a thing as genius — I am one. And if there isn’t, I don’t care.”

– John Lennon
