The Arctic Monkeys Make Their Music Heavier and Simpler

Yeah, Humbug was a good album. I hate that I was late to the party on that one, but oh well. At least “Brick by Brick” and frontman Alex Turner’s Submarine EP caught my attention in time.  They just dropped their new single, “Don’t Sit Down Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair” and from the sound of it, I think their new album is going to be pretty good.

All of these singles sound heavier and more riff-oriented than their older stuff. “Brick By Brick” is their most rock n’ roll sounding track. It nods heads and sways hips. It’s got swagger and attitude. The new song sounds heavier as well and a bit darker than some of the stuff on Humbug. It seems like this record will be simpler and just more straightfoward rock ‘n roll. And I think that’s okay.

The new album is coming out June 6th and they’ve named it “Suck It and See.” Nice one dudes. I just hope Turner isn’t starting to get soft nowadays. He recently apologized for calling out Take That for being “bollocks.” Dude, you don’t have to apologize. Everyone knows that Take That is shit. Cut it out dude. You’re in a rock n’ roll band. Act like it.

The single will be available on Record Store Day. I’m picking up one.

If you want a copy of the song, our friends over at the Culture Bully have you hooked up. They’ve also got a good copy of Brick By Brick somewhere on there.
