A.A. Bondy Premieres “The Heart Is Willing”

Folk act A.A. Bondy’s new album, Believers, doesn’t come out until September 13th, but a single should have made its rounds by now. Today, NPR got ahead of the crowd and got Bondy to email them his new track, “The Heart Is Willing.”And it’s probably not what you thought it would be, but in a good way.

I was expecting a track more in the same vein of his last album When the Devil’s Loose, but I guess he didn’t want to get too comfortable. He said the album would sound like it was conjured up in dreams and semiconscious moments on the road and he wasn’t kidding. This song sounds like it will put you in a trance. His semi-vague description of the song:

I wrote this when I lived next to a girl named Mona. I was trying to come up with something she might wanna dance to. I didn’t really know her, but she seemed like she might be into magic or something.

You can hear the song over at NPR. You can grab it from Buddyhead.com. He’s playing a couple of shows that I’ve listed below along with a couple more songs. Check it out. This album is gonna be a keeper.
