Scorsese’s George Harrison Documentary Gets A Release Date

If it already isn’t obvious to you, Martin Scorsese makes great movies and is an excellent story teller (if it really isn’t, watch Goodfellas). Aside from being an acclaimed director, he’s also makes cool documentaries. In 2008, he released Shine a Light, which followed the Rolling Stones and now he’s taking on a Beatle. On October 5th, HBO is going to debut part one of the two part documentary, George Harrison: Living in the Material World.

The documentary has been in the making since 2008. Scorese follows Harrison from his early days in the Beatles, his trip to India, and his influence and includes many unseen interviews and brand new footage. From the looks of the trailer, Scorsese didn’t skip out on much and asked the right people about Harrison for the film. He even managed to get an interview with Phil “I look like Gollum” Spector for the documentary. No word if it’s from behind bars or just some of the unseen interviews he’s got for the film, but it should be interesting.

The trailer is below. Part one of the documentary airs October 5th and part two airs October 6th. Shit, I guess I’m gonna have to find a rich friend who’s gonna let me bum their HBO for those two days. Any takers?
