Unknown Mortal Orchestra Explain Themselves, Tour America

Unknown Mortal Orchestra is picking up momentum, yet no one knows much about them. In an age where everyone spills their guts on Facebook/Twitter, that’s quite an accomplishment. It’s cool because it allows the music to do the talking (which it does). However, Noisey 104 decided to shed some light on that mystery. They filmed a cool interview with the band as well as a couple of songs from a show in Los Angeles. The band s talks about how they weren’t intentionally trying to be mysterious and how fast they’ve grown. Another good bit, these dudes look less and less like hipsters every time I see them, so I guess they got the message on that. Cool. They posted the videos on the site, and you can check it out below.

The bnad is also embarking on their first headliner tour across America. They’re going to be going strong for almost 4 months. Apparently they’re too cool for Nashville, but aside from that, there’s not a lot of cities they’re skipping. If you’re in the area, check out them out. Last night, these guys played the wonderful little Glasslands Gallery of Brooklyn, and it was AWESOME. Thought Ballune live, love it to death!! Love the band, love the album. some seriously attitude-free, just plain super psychedelic tunes. These guys manage to fuse grit with atmospheric psych, must be the style of guitar + vocals they have. It’s like, I have heard it before, yet not quite…….like maybe some have tried to pull this music off before & failed, but here come UMO and BANG, psych with some dirt, perfect mix!

it sound familair but not to the point that they’re ripping off someone else. And I wish they’d come to Nashville. Judging by the size of this tour, there really is no excuse for them to skip it.
