Future Perfect – Autolux

Sorry I haven’t been posting as much as normal. School’s a demanding bitch and I’m hardly a week into it. Since there seems to be a lack of noteworthy music news going around that isn’t something I’ve covered a billion times, I figured I’d show you something cool from my music collection. If you dig bands where you can’t tell if the lead singer is a boy or girl, you’ll probably dig this shit. The band is called Autolux and the album is called Future Perfect. I first found out about this band when I was 15 years old. They opened for NIN for a couple of arena tours (say what you want about NIN, but if it weren’t for the fact that they brought along awesome opening acts for their tours, I would never have heard of Queens of the Stone Age, TV on the Radio, Death From Above 1979, Bauhaus, Eagles of Death Metal, Deerhunter and of course, Autolux). I gave the song “Here Comes Everybody” a spin and was automatically hooked on the noise.

The noise guitar in the chorus hits you harder than an atom bomb. Whether you agree with me or not, I definitely felt the aftershock and had to get the rest of the album. It was loaded with gems. From the moody street light haze melody of “Turnstile Blues” to the driving bass on “Angry Candy,” I was hooked on the album for a good bit when I was younger. So simple, yet not complacent. I would have killed to see them live at this time.

The band disappeared for a good bit after this album came out. They had recorded another album, Transit Transit, but dealing with record labels made the album become delayed from 2008 to about 2010. I gave that record a spin and didn’t find it anywhere near as compelling as this one. Cest la vie. Anyways, I’d link you to the album, but with all this SOPA and PIPA shit going around, I’m afraid the feds are gonna kick in my door and arrest me and call me the bad guy, Tony Montana style. Plus, since this band probably isn’t making a million dollars (who is anymore?), I think it’s best to actually buy the album if you have the means. Til then, check out the usual videos below. Definitely some killer shit here.

Hi Jordan, I’ve never done this before (contacted a blogger) so I don’t know if I’m being rude or what but what the hell… I bumped into your site because I made a music video of my song about “stuff”. Okay so it’s a stretch… but anyway I recorded, shot and edited aaaand made the cardboard props (don’t be losing me yet!!) Looking at your site I’m thinking my video might be a big fat square peg so my apologies if you’re offended by my approaching you at all. This isn’t a public comment I hope?! Sincerely, Mo McMorrow.

Oh good! The comment is awaiting moderation. I might as well leave you the link here and then you can forget the whole thing and we can move on like none of this ever happened. : ) http://youtu.be/rvhkgJp6d7Q
