Mini Mansions Cover Blondie….And Get Away With It

California psych-pop rockers Mini Mansions have been laying a bit low lately. This could be due to the fact that they are working on the follow-up to their 2010 self-titled debut and Mikey Shuman simultaneously working on the upcoming Queens of the Stone Age record, but the band is trying to prove that they are still alive and kicking. While it’s been almost a year since they released their cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” it looks like they finally got around to making a video for it.

Heart of Glass (Blondie Cover) – Mini Mansions

I’m not one for Blondie or dudes in bathtubs, but I dig this cover a lot. They slow it down, take out all of the disco shit from the original and make it a slow burner with the occasional kick. Nicely done, peeps. The cover is available as the b-side for their single “Monk.” You can check out that song and a few others below. The band is apparently going on tour soon but as always, they seem to be sticking to the usual west coast dates. Bummer. Can some bigger band pick this one up and bring them on tour with them so they can be further exposed to the masses? Hopefully it’ll happen soon. Until then, you can check them out at the dates below.
