Where To Be On Record Store Day 2012

Some people don’t get into the whole ‘buy vinyl’ craze, but even if you have no preference for the quality of your audio, or the format it is presented in, you have to admit….. Record Store Day kicks ass. I mean, I’ll take any excuse to partake in some daytime-drinking, but pair that with great live bands playing all day, lots of releases and reissues being dropped, and cheap ass LPs by the buttload…. well it doesn’t get much better than that. For the fifth consecutive year, independent record stores across the country team up for one day of extravagant celebrations of all things music. Living in Nashville grants us a unique opportunity to be a part of one of the better RSD gatherings. With shows happening at Grimey’s, The Groove, Earnest Tubb Records and The Great Escape you can surely occupy yourself all day. Not to mention whatever the guys at Third Man have up their sleeves (no show I hear, but if you aren’t already in line, you probably aren’t getting in that place). RSD 2012 will bring us performances from local mainstays JEFF, Pujol, Ranch Ghost, Caitlin Rose, Denny and the Jets, Fly Golden Eagle and lots more. We will also see the release of JEFF’s Upstairs at United Vol. 3 where they cover Hawkwind’s ‘Master of the Universe’ with a full band (vid below) as well as Pujol’s Reverse Vampire 7” which is currently streaming HERE. Very excited for both of those releases as well as the slew of other non-Nashville acts that you can find below. To cap off the evening we have Mom and Dad, Bad Back and two other bands of questionable quality at The Zombieshop. Check out the schedules for live shows and for God’s sake….. get off your fucking couch and enjoy Record Store Day 2012.
