Ranch Ghost Turns One, Releases “Gross Eyes”

Back in January, I was able to capture a new Ranch Ghost song on camera at the Mercy Lounge. The song was called “Gross Eyes” and sounded like it was meant to capture your mind ascending and descending into madness at the same time, topped off with Josh preaching in tongues towards the end. I thought it was awesome because it seemed like a step out of the band’s usual cannon of “walking down the street” music and dove into a tripper side of the band that we hadn’t seen at the time. It seems like they decided to commit it to tape, because they just released a recording of the song on their SoundCloud. Give it a listen below:

It’s still hard to believe that it has been a full year since Ranch Ghost made their live debut at Mt. Swag. In a short period of time, they have gained a well deserved cult following within the scene. The best part of it is that they didn’t gain this following by playing the right shows, shaking hands or sucking dicks. No, the band still stands on its own merits by one simple thing: their tunes. And in this kind of environment, that’s something. Can’t wait to see where the band will be in another year’s time. It’ll be interesting to watch. Anyways, blah blah blah, check out some of their other tunes below.
