Noel Gallagher Soundchecks Two New Songs

It’s been a bit since I’ve talked about Noely G. I bombarded the shit out of the site last year when he got back in the game and wrote some killer songs, but since then, I slowed it down a bit. Since I last posted about him (which was, holy shit, the Best and Worst of List of 2011), he’s put out a couple of music videos. He put out a really cool one for “Dream On”, but he recently put out a lackluster one for “Everybody’s on the Run.” Don’t get me wrong, I dig a half naked Mischa Barton running down the street, but aside from that, the video is pretty weak. Along with the aforementioned”Dream On” single, he released one of the songs from his next album with Androgynous Amorphous as a b-side. The tune is called “Shoot a Hole into the Sun” and while it’s full of cool trippy sounds, it could benefit from being trimmed down by a minute or two.

So yeah, nothing too exciting came about until the other day. Noel has sound checked two new songs during a gig and now I’m officially stoked again.

The songs are called “God Help Us All” and “Makes Me Wanna Cry.” While the latter does sound too much like “Wonderwall” for me to get into it (c’mon Noel, the lyrics are great, but you can’t keep doing that shit and expect to get away with it), “God Help Us All” is brilliant. It originally appeared on the 2005 Oasis tour documentary titled “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” (which is awesome and if you haven’t watched it yet, you’re fucking up) and has been circling around youtube for a bit. It seems like we’re getting closer to a studio version with this soundcheck, so after about a 7 year wait, it’s about fucking time. You can check out the songs below. The Chief is back, kids. And that’s a very good thing.

Also, if you don’t already, read up on Noel’s journal updates from the tour titled “Tales from the Middle of Nowhere.” The dude will give you a couple of laughs.
