Primal Scream Bring “More Light”

Primal Scream have had a career that stretches across the musical spectrum. Yeah, they’re Brits, but their albums have ranged from being absolute drenched in whiskey and southern drawl to albums that are closer to acid house electronic and MDMA. While these are risky ventures on their own, somehow, this band has managed to pull it off EVERY FUCKING TIME. I don’t know how they do it, and I don’t care to know as long as the music is good. With a five year interval since their last album, the band has finally reloaded and is ready to shoot down all the rest with a brand new album on May 6th, entitled More Light.

Not much else is known about the album although it has been rumored that it will feature the legendary Robert Plant (possibly back on harmonica like last time) and that David Holmes will produce it. Here’s what Bobby Gillespie has to say about it:

It’s a rock ‘n’ roll record, but modern rock ‘n’ roll. Pretty psychedelic rock, it’s kind of guitar-driven but we use guitars in an orchestral way, not in the normal way people make rock records. I think we do it in a more interesting way. We weave the guitars in with electronics and other acoustic instruments to make the core sound.

Sounds up to par, as usual. The band has yet to release any live dates in the US or even a tracklisting, but you know we’ll be on that shit like a junkie on a hit when its released. Until then, I encourage you all to get stoned to the bone in anticipation of this new album.
