Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn Bury the Hatchet, Perform “Tender” Together

No one in America gives a shit about this, but if you’re a fan of Oasis and Blur like yours truly, then you ought to know the history between these two. In 1995, at the height of the cocaine rodeo known as Britpop, these two bands had a highly publicized feud that was on the level of the Beatles vs. the Stones (in England at least). It was all about record sales and tensions came to a head when Noel Gallagher made a statement. In it, he expressed his admiration of Damon Albarn and Blur by saying that he wished they’d “catch AIDs and die.” Shit man, and I thought I was mean! However, a reconciliation has been in the making with both trading compliments towards each other in the press and hanging out at this year’s Brits Awards (it’s like the Grammy’s with more bad teeth). This reconciliation was solidified last night at the final night of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert in which Noel curated. He joined Albarn, Blur guitarist Graham Coxon and Paul Weller to play Blur’s classic song “Tender.”

Aww. Well, now that that’s done, I guess we can expect a collaboration from the pair sometime in the future. Blur is going to be headlining Coachella coming up and is probably gonna tour more/release a new album whenever Albarn stops being so cryptic. They are rumored to be playing Lollapalooza this year, which, if the leaked line-up is any indication, they might be the only good band there this year. Noel is probably going back to the pub after this, but I have a feeling we’ll hear from him sooner than later. Check out a couple more videos from both bands below.
