Twin Peaks Soundtracks to Be Reissued on Coffee- and Cherry-Colored Vinyl

Like many people, I’m a big fan of the 90’s cult TV show Twin Peaks and pretty much anything David Lynch has had a hand in. But unlike a lot of people who liked the show but hated the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (Quentin Tarantino is famously quoted as saying that Lynch had disappeared up far his own ass when the film screened at Cannes), I thought the movie was really good. It didn’t have much comic relief but it had an unsettling vibe that I dug and which leaked into the rest of Lynch’s later work. But what really made the movie for me was the soundtrack. Composer Angelo Badalamenti made cool tracks for the film that sounded like a slow, sexy struts with hints of impending terror; it was perfect for a film that made you feel like you were losing your soul along with the lovely Laura Palmer.

Anyways, I bring this up because it appears that the music of Twin Peaks will finally see itself repressed on vinyl for the first time since the early 90’s. Spencer Hickman’s Death Waltz Recordings has announced that they will reissue the Fire Walk With Me soundtrack as well as the season 1 soundtrack on LP sometime this year. In keeping with the themes of the show, they will be issued on cherry- and coffee-colored vinyl, with artwork approved by David Lynch himself. While it would be cool to own the season 1 soundtrack, as you can probably tell, I’m eyeing the film soundtrack. Check out the theme song below along with my favorite song from the film below.
