Neil Young to Reissue the Essential “Time Fades Away” LP on Record Store Day

What can I say about Neil Young that hasn’t been said a million times before? What can I say about Time Fades Away that I haven’t covered before? Not a whole lot, except that they both fucking rule. Wait, I have said that. Oh well. While we’re still waiting on Jack White’s Third Man Records to drop Neil Young’s new record A Letter Home, Young is taking this time to announce some more exciting news: he’s finally reissuing the infamous LP Time Fades Away for Record Store Day (April 19th) 2014. The catch 22 is that it comes in a box set titled the Official Release Series Discs 5-8 Vinyl Box Set that includes other great albums such as On the Beach, Tonight’s the Night, and Zuma. But when you put it that way, it’s not really a catch 22 now, is it?

If you’re rusty on the history of this album (which also happens to be my favorite Neil Young record ever), flip back to my short piece on it back in 2011 that details the tremulous tour that this record was recorded on and why Neil himself has put so much distance between himself and the record. After all that, the fact that it’s finally being officially remastered and reissued after so long is very fucking cool. If you haven’t heard it, Youtube has the whole thing for you below. If you don’t feel like listening to the whole thing, then peep my three favorite tracks below that. They should definitely change your mind.
