The Black Keys Drop New Single – “Fever”

Has it really been 3 years since El Camino came out? Considering each of these dudes have been staying busy either with touring or producing other bands, it’s not like we’ve had a drought. In fact, I still fairly burnt out on them. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t like them anymore or anything. It’s just…..well, ya know, right? I mean, c’mon now. You know what I mean.

Anyways, they did briefly peak my interest again by releasing a hypnotically strange teaser trailer last week, announcing the release of their latest effort, Turn Blue, on May 13th. Peep it below.

They followed this by somewhat-cryptically saying that the album title was about either “suffocation, sadness, numbness from extreme cold, a Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960s named Ghoulardi (who might have inspired the man in the teaser clips) — or all of the above.”

So, my interest was peaked enough to see what the Ohio duo were up to studio-wise. I gave their newly released track, “Fever,” a listen and…..well, ya know, right? It’s not that its not good, it’s just not great or new. It sounds like they’re phoning it in more on this album than on the last one. Oh well. Despite popular belief, I’m occasionally optimistic so with that in mind, I’ll wait for the whole album before I make my final call. Give the single a listen below.
