Fly Golden Eagle Ready “Quartz” LP For October 14th

Screen shot 2014-09-11 at 9.44.27 AMNormally, when a band releases a triple LP, I usually tell them to fuck off, because c’mon – double LPs can be tedious enough as is, but a triple LPs can catch a boat to fuckoffity land. Yet, like most rules, I’ll break them from time to time.

Fly Golden Eagle has been one of my favorite local bands for a while now. Simply put, they’re a great band that has great tunes that makes girls want to dance. What’s not to like? Hell, they’re one of the few bands that can call their debut album Swagger and have it live up to its name. In a scene that can get stale sometimes, that’s fucking impressive.

After a three year interval, the band is getting ready to drop their latest effort, Quartz. Armed with 26 tracks (and available in an abridged pack of 12), the band describes the album as “latent with ancient and future notions” and claims that it can be synched up with Alejandro Jodowrowsky’s iconic film The Holy Mountain. To celebrate the October 14th release, the band is hitting the road and dropping a live video for the heavenly-sounding track, “Horse’s Mouth.” You can give it a watch below, hear the cleaner studio cut of said track, and peep the tour dates to see if they’re coming to your city (no Nashville show yet, but I’m sure we’ll when they come home). You can also preorder the album from ATO Records official shop HERE.
